It Is Our Wedding Anniversary
Today my marriage turns 18….
I am not sure where the years have gone. On one hand I feel like I have been married a lifetime and on the other it feels like we just got married yesterday.
I know the years have marched on…..sadly we neither look the same nor are we quite the same size. Yet, we are still that same couple; two strangers who fell in love and have become each other’s best friend and constant companion.
In the last 18 years we have had so many ups and downs…so many adventures. I married a guy who was attached to the US Army. While this can make life precarious and unstable to say the least it has also been such a gift, it has afforded us so any unique opportunities. We have lived in 5 countries over 3 continents, we have moved our home 10 times and had 4 children and 3 dogs. It has not always been easy…..but it was always worth it.
I know this life is not for everyone, but for us it is the perfect life…it is after all the only one we know.
One way we have managed to stay happily married is by keeping our relationship Faith based and God centered. When we are both on the same page with regards to our relationship with God, then we tend to be on the same page with most other issues. He and I are not of the same religion, yet we can enjoy bible study and prayer together and with our family. I know that we are incredibly blessed.
