Homemade Vanilla extract is easy to make. We currently live in Italy, so our access to some ingredients is more limited here. One of these is real vanilla extract. I can easily get various forms of vanilla flavoring (which is too synthetic for my liking) and it is not hard to find vanilla pods, but I like extract. Today my marriage turns 18…. I am not sure where the years have gone. On one hand I feel like I have been married a lifetime and on the other it feels like we just got married yesterday. I know the years have marched on…..sadly we neither look the same nor are we quite the same size. Yet, we are still that same couple; two strangers who fell in love and have become each other’s best friend and constant companion….
I still love a bootcut jean and a sleeveless puffer jacket…..are they completely out of fashion am I a walking fashion faux pas?!?!?!?
We can use this time to reflect upon where our focus should be…..and for me and my family it is by coming together in prayer and in our faith in God.
Ever since then, when my feet have touched the sand of a beach, I have brought a little of it home with me. I usually save some in a water or soda bottle, but I have been known to take a sock from my kids foot and bring sand home in it.
