Life Changes

OhMotherDarling.com
I have had so many life changes in  the last 18 months.

In an ideal world (whatever that means) I should be cruising into my middle age, settled down with some solid plans for my future. When my parent’s were my age they were well and truly settled in their forever home. I am not even sure what my dream home would look like. I never thought that my life would be such an unplanned (mostly fun) adventure. Instead my life is full of changes.

Life changes can be hard…

Last year, my military family had another big life change, we were once again uprooted and sent to live in North Carolina. Leaving Italy was the hardest move I have made in 20+ years of military life. It had to be done in order for our family to have a reset, we had been out of the USA for over 6 years. I had teenagers without drivers licenses, bank accounts and no experience of Chick Fila or door dash! We had a long list of life admin tasks that needed to be completed.

We bought a house on the Internet before we left Italy (…this I do not recommend, as it needed a little more work than we expected). Once here, we launched one kid off to college and are now prepping two more to leave the nest (although we still don’t know what they want to do!?!?!).  I went back to school to advance my radiology credentials and I qualified  as a mammographer in the spring, which was kinda crazy heading back to college after many years. Now, after 20 years as a stay at home mom  I am back in the workforce; something I am still trying to get used to.  My husband retired after 26 years of Army service. The change of me now working and him transitioning to the “real world” is a strange one. Our household dynamic has completely flipped.

Will we ever settle?

We bought a house and put down a few roots, but the fact is we are still not settled. As beautiful as it is, we know it won’t be North Carolina for the rest of our lives.  I am one of the crazy people who wants to move north, I need 4 separate and distinct seasons for my own survival.

Now I have the privilege of working with women in a very intimate setting.  I enjoy the interaction I get to have with these women of all races, shapes and ages. I believe in women’s health and am happy to be working toward making a difference in each of these their lives. That is why I decided to go back to working on my blog.  I have missed the interaction with my tiny part of the internet.

I am embracing all the life changes and the new ones still to come. My intention is to record more of what is going on in my life as it happens. My hope is that with the help of all of you and The Good Lord, something great can come from these changes. Maybe I can finally settle!

These are some pictures of the stunning North Carolina coast and the Outer Banks. I highly recommend a visit.

Until next time,

Criona ♥
