How I Store My Jewelry

How I Store My Jewelry

In my current home I am very short on space. I have a small table nestled between two doors where it just about fits. On it, sits a mirrored jewelry box from Target, in which I keep my more precious pieces (of which unfortunately, there are not too many).  I have had the mirrored box for a few years now and I love it.

I have a lot of what I like to call “junk jewelry”.  I love beads of all colors and finishes, especially for my wrists.  I bought the bracelet and necklace organizers from Amazon.  I love longer necklaces, but they are hard to store.  I use a scarf hanger from Ikea (which is hung on the wall with a command hook, ’cause I am classy like that!) to hang more necklaces in full view.  I am not one to usually enjoy cluttered spaces, but I love how this works for me.  If my pieces are not out in full view then I simply forget what I have.  So if I see it all regularly then I am more inclined to wear it and actually adorn myself from time to time.

I have written before about how a long-weekend getaway to Kyoto, Japan, resulted in a slight addiction to Muji acrylic storage.  My collection has since grown……

Now I have expanded my collection to include some jewelry storage.  I love these clear storage containers for my more delicate necklaces and earrings.   My things are at the same time in full view, yet they are protected from the environment.  Everything is easily accessible,  I simply slide the inside portion out through the side of the container.  I have two stacked on on top of each other. They help me appreciate my pieces a little more, because they are so nicely displayed.  Just looking at them brings me so much joy.  Yes, I am easily amused.

While I know I am not going to win any awards for my originality, my storage solution is very simple.  But it works really well for me.  I used to hide my stuff away in cute bowls or boxes, that I thought would be  more aesthetically pleasing.  It took me a long time to realize two things in order for my jewelry storage to work for me:

  1. Everything has to be  in one place.
  2. Everything has to be visible.

When I do these two things, I find myself actually using and appreciating what I have.

Thanks for reading….
